The API ToS team in New York [inno³ in NYC]
This post is part of a series [inno³ in NYC].
From 9 to 12 May, inno³ is invited to New York for the closing event of the 2020 Digital Infrastructure Grant. After more than two years of research, inno³, winner of this grant alongside Mehdi Medjaoui, will be presenting the results of the API ToS study.
This trip across the Atlantic is an opportunity to meet other stakeholders with similar interests in open models (Open Source, open science, open data) and to consider future collaborations.
Background to the ‘API terms fo services’ project
APIToS was launched in 2020 following the award of the ‘2020 Digital infrastructure’ grant supported by the following organisations: Ford Foundation, Alfred p.Sloan Foundation, Open Society Foundation, Omydiar Network, Mozilla Open Source Support Program et Open Collective.
The aim of this project was to build an easily usable framework to make the general conditions of use (CGU, or Term of Service abbreviated to ToS) fairer and more equitable between API producers and users.
It gave shape to the FACT (Fair API Commitment to Trust) model, which includes a FACT licence that has undergone extensive legal design work to make it easier to understand, use and distribute.
New York : presentation and final rendering of APIToS Project
This invitation to the United States is being extended in order to present the results of the API ToS project by Célya Gruson Daniel and Benjamin Jean on 11 May 2023, at a closing event organised by Open Collective at the Ford Foundation.
This will also be an opportunity to discover the results of the winning projects from the different parts of the world, all looking at ways of building sustainable infrastructures.
All the contents of the API ToS project will be made available online on 11 May at the Open Collective closing event, alongside the winning projects.
Time for sharing on inno³’s expertise
This trip to the United States is also an opportunity for inno³ to meet with open models players (companies, laboratories, etc.) in the United States.
Among the objectives, we will be communicating on the Hermine project, sharing the latest announcements on the EOLE event and discussing North American and European open science policies.
This will be an opportunity to imagine new partnerships and promote the French dynamics associated with open models to a wider audience.
If you are in New York from 9 to 12 May 2023, we would be delighted to meet you. And if you know of any relevant contacts with whom we can exchange ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email at contact@inno3.fr.
