Opening of the CFP #EOLE2018

The call for conferences for the European Open Source & Free Software Law Event (EOLE) is now open for this 2018 edition!

This year’s theme will be ‘Compliance processes in the age of open source industrialisation’.

The use of free and open source software offers a large number of advantages for organisations: independence from traditional publishers, adaptability, sustainability, etc. In recent years, the adoption of open source software has accelerated as a result of its growing strategic importance and increased market pressure, with open source software becoming a genuine business differentiator.

As a result, all the players are gradually putting in place best practices based on international standardisation processes, the deployment of specific tools and the design of frameworks. These best practices will enable the organisation to comply with licences, but above all to take full advantage of free and open source software by focusing on its own added value.

In this context, compliance management is increasingly integrated into the industrial processes of organisations that use and produce Open Source, and has now reached a high level of maturity thanks to a number of international standardisation and automation initiatives.

With this in mind, the 2018 event will report on the current state of progress of the various national and international initiatives in the field of compliance, so that everyone can get to grips with the subject and anticipate the next major developments in the field. The conference will alternate talks, panels and workshops.

EOLE 2018

The European Open Source & Free Software Law Event (EOLE) is an international series of annual conferences designed to encourage the sharing and dissemination of legal knowledge relating to open licences, as well as the development and promotion of best practice. An initiative born in 2008 out of the needs of practitioners in the field, EOLE aims to develop a legal doctrine dedicated to open source, with a particular focus on providing neutral, high-quality information.

The 2018 edition of EOLE, organised during the Paris Open Source Summit in December, will showcase these best practices by focusing on compliance processes at a time when open source is becoming increasingly industrialised.
